I've picked up a troll

Apparently I've picked up a troll. Now, normally I'm in favor of feeding trolls. They've moved onto the internet because their native environment has been destroyed by modern civilization. They used to live under bridges. However, modern bridges with cars and other loud noises are not conducive to their survival. I'm normally a bit of an environmentalist and should therefore support helping save the trolls. However, we all have our NIMBY moments and this one is mine.

Therefore, I have placed comments on moderation. I will need to approve any submitted comment before it appears. This does not change anything people need to do to comment but it does mean that their comments will not show up immediately when they are submitted.

The nyt magazine has an interesting piece for this sunday's issue titled "Malwebolence." It is basically part short introduction to the world of internet trolls for those that don't know and part human interest story about a couple of them. Sorry I don't have a link.

The article is http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/03/magazine/03trolls-t.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=troll&st=cse&oref=slogin

It is worth reading to some extent. It focuses on some of the more pathetic and despicable trolls in existence. In that regard it does not give sufficient attention to how many of the trolls are exactly like the trolls there (i.e. close to no lives) but lack the level of success. I mean c'mon, trolling my blog? I'd say one should have bigger fish to fry but this blog might still constitute a microorganism.

Josh! Hi! Saw your comment on ScienceWomen and had to drop by. I also hope that Ted 'Series of Tubes' Stevens goes to JAIL.

Janice, I don't want Stevens to go to jail. I have no strong opinion about his guilt. If he is guilty then yes he should go to jail. However, stupidity is not by itself sufficient reason for incarceration.
